Model Theory at Notre Dame
in Honor of Zoé Chatzidakis
October 24-26, 2025
This will be a meeting at Notre Dame centered on the model theory of pseudo-finite fields, difference fields, profinite groups, and other themes that were central to the work of Zoé Chatzidakis, who passed away earlier this year. The main aim is to provide an opportunity for model theorists in North America to do something to commemorate Zoé’s many contributions to model theory and to the model-theoretic community, but participation is open to anyone, regardless of geography. Anyone interested in participating should write to Nick Ramsey at sramsey5@nd.edu.
The conference will begin the morning of Friday, October 24 and conclude by noon October 26. A dinner is planned for Saturday evening, October 25. Further details are forthcoming. The math department will be in contact with participants concerning travel dates and accommodation. The conference program, with both abstracts and detailed schedule for the meeting, can be found here.
Recently, a thesis award for PhDs in model theory and interactions has been set up in honor of Zoé Chatzidakis. Information about the award can be found here and donations towards the award can be made here.
